Opportunity Details

AmeriCorps - Legacy Corps

Alzheimer’s Project, Inc. is pleased to inform you of a unique volunteer opportunity through our AmeriCorps “Legacy Corps” Program.
This program provides an opportunity for 30 member-volunteers to receive several training intensives and once trained, be eligible for placement in the homes of caregivers in order to provide about 10 - 12 hours of respite care each week to a veteran or military family member living with Dementia. This is a contracted volunteer opportunity with a required 1 year commitment (that begins on September 1st, 2019 and ends August 31st, 2020) where each Member Volunteer is to complete 450 hours by the end of their contract year (August 31st, 2020; regardless of when you join the program).
Member volunteers will receive a MONTHLY stipend of $135 as well as an End-of-Year Educational Award for SUCCESSFUL completion of their term of service for $1,612.43, which can be used to pay for classes or to pay down student-loan debt. Another benefit to joining this program is that every volunteer is qualified for a student loan forbearance and AmeriCorps will pay the interest on your loans for the duration of the forbearance period.
We are very excited about this service program that has enabled us to extend our services in more rural communities and provided another service to help caregivers who are struggling every day to care for their loved ones. For more information, please contact Caitlin Dilley at 850-386-2778 or at caitlin@alzheimersproject.org.
