Group Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteer groups typically spend 2-3 hours at Manna. We schedule a half hour for an educational presentation or activity and then introduce volunteers to their tasks. Manna schedules volunteer groups on Thursdays and Fridays* when we do not offer food assistance. Manna is dedicated to respecting the privacy and dignity of our clients and scheduling our volunteer groups on days when we do not serve clients helps us to achieve this standard. Please be aware that volunteer groups will not be directly interacting with Manna’s clients.
All group volunteers must be 12 years of age or older. All minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or sponsor over the age of 18 at all times. Volunteers should be comfortable working on concrete floors and be capable of reading dates on food items. Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes. Potential Tasks:
- Gross sort food donations
- Dry product pest check
- Date check and inventory food items
- Sweep and mop warehouse floors
- Clean Manna vehicles
- Grounds beautification
- Fine sort food items
- Restock shelves
- Pack program bags according to packing lists
- “Flip” and clean barrels
- Clean-up after all volunteer tasks
