Orange County - After-school Tutoring

About: Rebecca's Garden of Hope

Poverty and its effects hit nearly 35% of the children in the Orlando area. Making a difference takes more than compassion and good intentions; it takes a passion and desire to be a part of the change. Rebecca's Garden of Hope and Our Savior Lutheran Church provides a place for that change to take place by offering mentoring and tutoring opportunities to all children from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

Dedicated volunteers nurture hope by building caring relationships with each student. Individualized strategies are established to help each student grow personally and advance educationally. Life skills such as timeliness, perseverance and money management weave a thread of excellence through the lives of the children and families impacted by this unique ministry.

Be an Advocate for helping children ages 4-18 in your community by helping them with their homework in an energetic and encouraging setting. You pick the age, and we help provide curriculum and computers.

Requirements for volunteers:

  • Must complete an in-house orientation
  • Be competent in reading, math OR grammar
  • Enjoy working with children or teenagers
  • Be patient, kind, and supportive
