Developed by Superintendent Dr. Barbara M. Jenkins, the Minority Achievement Office (MAO) was designed to support the fulfillment of the Orange County Public Schools vision and mission: to ensure every student has a promising and successful future, and with the support of families and the community, to create enriching and diverse pathways to lead our students to success. MAO is committed to student improvement efforts, exemplified by the development of initiatives and projects that accelerate student learning and ensure that minority students, along with their counterparts, graduate ready to succeed in college and careers. Building upon research-based strategies and processes, and partnerships with universities, municipalities and faith-based organizations, the MAO maintains a laser-like focus on equity and access for all students. Not only are initiatives focused on supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally, the MAO is also committed to increasing the capacity of teachers and leaders within OCPS to collaboratively work toward narrowing the achievement gap that plagues our nation, our state, and our schools.
