Description

We Help You Do It! Clubhouse is a start-up Clubhouse. Our Clubhouse was founded in October 2016 by a consumer/Board Member of Banyan Health a Community Mental Health Center located in Miami, Florida. Our Clubhouse will provide to members an accepting place to spend the day, participate in valuable work that supports the Clubhouse operations, socialize with friends and co-workers and gain access to transitional and supported employment within the community. Our Clubhouse will help to fill a critical gap in local mental health services by providing long-term recovery, rehabilitation and employment opportunities for people with persistent mental illnesses. We will improve the overall health services of the most poor and underserved population located in North Miami and North Miami Beach. We will strive to help people whose lives have been affected by mental illness by given them opportunity to recover meaningful and productive lives. We will do this through reintegration in the workplace and in the community. The overall goal is to reduce isolation and prepare members to live more independent lives, thereby reducing the likelihood of hospitalization, incarceration and homelessness. Miami has an unusual high percentage of residents living with severe mental illness. It is estimated that 9.1% of the population (Miami Herald May, 2004) suffer from mental illness.
