All Faiths Food Bank is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization in Sarasota and DeSoto counties. The Food Bank was founded in 1989 by a group of individuals who, through their respective organizations, were feeding the hungry. They combined efforts to incorporate as All Faiths Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All Faiths has been a Certified Member of the Feeding America network since 1990.

Hurricane Ian Message: In preparation for Hurricane Irma and for the safety of our staff and our neighbors, All Faiths Food Bank will be closed and distributions will be cancelled from noon on Tuesday, September 27th through Thursday, September 28th.  If roads are clear, the food bank plans to immediately begin distribution of food and water on the morning of Friday, September 30th.  Please continue to check our website, www.allfaithsfoodbank.org for further updates.

All Faiths Food Bank is a member of National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, an association of organizations organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters, provides a forum promoting cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration; and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster.

When disaster strikes, concerned Floridians immediately search for ways to serve affected communities.

WHAT TO REMEMBER ABOUT SERVING DURING DISASTERS:

  1. Immediate assistance for affected areas is provided by first responders, government groups, disaster relief organizations and affiliated volunteers who have already trained to serve.

  2. Each organization that mobilizes volunteers during disasters has its own process for accepting and managing unaffiliated volunteers.

  3. As our partner organizations assess needs and evaluate resources, they will begin to organize volunteer opportunities for unaffiliated (individuals who are not already connected to an organization) volunteers.

  4. Remember that recovery work continues for weeks, months and even years after disaster events occur. Organizations may have a significant need for volunteers in the weeks and months ahead.

  5. Please be sure to personally vet any agency you choose to donate to or serve with. Volunteer Florida does not formally endorse any organization.

PLEASE DO NOT SELF-DEPLOY:

For your safety and to support trained emergency response teams, please confirm with a disaster relief organization the need for volunteers and approval for your participation.
